Michelle Williams and Jason Segel are dating

I know that I have talked about my issues with Michelle Williams and I will admit that when I went to see Jeff Who Lives at Home I was hoping I could talk about how he made a drama because she likes to suck the fun out of people. It was too shitty to sit through so I didn't play up the rumor that started last month. This week however, pictures have surfaced of the couple and they look cute- he looks smitten and she looks really happy.

She tends to rub me the wrong way when her relationship with Ledger is played up because it wasn't what everyone wants to think and he can't defend himself but the fact remains she has had to deal with it as his daughter's mother. She claims she keeps his memory alive, she keeps her close with his family, and she seems to be raising her well. Who knows, she might even be trapped with the image of their love affair; can you imagine spending life being asked about that ex you grew to hate just because he died before anyone knew how bitter the breakup was?

Also, he likes Matilda!!

Once I got over the disgust of paparrazzi snapping Heath's baby girl I realized how pissed Segel was!! That is the face Ledger himself would make when Matilda was snapped.

Right now the couple is said to be trying to make long distance work but lets be honest, if it lasts he will have to live in NYC because Heath did (she gets her way apparently) and maybe one of my favorite shows, How I Met Your Mother, will come with him.

All I wanted to do was sleep...

Last night truly was adventurous. I actually had no problem falling asleep, once Graham was done jumping off and on my bed. The problems didn't start until around 4am.

At that point I woke up to go to the bathroom and as usual my fluffy companion accompanied me and sat in front of the door. So far do good. Then graham decided he wouldn't be following me back and waiting in the kitchen. When I went to carry him back to "his" room he decided to play Chase the Puppy. When I wasn't having it he went near my feet and laid down until i try to pick him up and then off he went. Jokes on him... Now he sleeps outside.

About an hour, I think, later I was awoken by the most outrageous pains shooting up and down my right arm. It felt like a Charlie- horse in the arm. I couldn't move and screamed every time I try to flip over. After a few minutes that felt like eternity I regained the ability to flex my hand and that mixed with rubbing finally allowed me enough comfort to try and sleep again.

Happy Spring!!

If you live in New York, and have experienced the lovely late spring-like temperatures lately, you might not have realized but it was actually still winter until today.

After last year's constant deep freeze, we were blessed with an extremely mild winter of 2011-12. while you could definitely argue that it was caused by the very bad for Earth global warming, I am sorry to say it was glorious. All I hope now is that we don't have an uncharacteristicly cold Spring and that the beautiful weather of the last few months isn't a sign of 2012 being the apocalypse.

Pictures of John Cleese at Adelaide Zoo

The pictures are from Cleese's recent trip to Australia to tour. You all know how I love Monty Python and animals so I thought I'd share for those who don't get his tweets.

Also, If Cleese and animals is something you want more of, everyone should check out Fierce Creatures where JC takes over running a zoo.

I love my family

What a better way to spend St Patrick's Day than with family, friends, great food, and loads of laughter!!

Kristen (and her new red hair) even came as a surprise which highlighted my night. We hardly see each other anymore and it was great to be able to talk in person.

Stay safe tonight everyone and...

Tribute is back

It is probably best that I start off by explaining that I am a bit unstable <del>I am offended that you had already figured that out.</del> So last year, to commemorate their fortieth anniversary, Starbucks created Tribute blend. It was a coffee that included all of their growing regions, it was a limited time, and it was delicious!

It might have actually been the greatest coffee I have ever tasted, or at least tide for it, and I drank it for as long as it was around. I then stopped drinking it for a while, followed by the occasional brewed cup from the beans I bought. Though I used it sparingly, eventually it was gone and I was sad because Starbucks said it would be gone forever. I even pleaded with the company in emails hoping to buy a lost bag somewhere in Seattle- no dice.

It upset my that, during a really trying year, I had found my favorite coffee only to loose it for all eternity. I wouldn't say I was depressed but then again I didn't really know how sad I was about it until Tuesday (after Starbucks graciously brought it back for another limited run) when I went into Starbucks to see if it was really there and burst into tears of joy.

U N S T A B L E

This year is shapping up to be a bit better- I didn't spend the entire winter sick, Gigi is more awesome then ever, I had a great trip to Florida and hoping to have another awesome trip to DC, so hopefully when Tribute leaves again I will be better prepared to deal with it.

Carpe 2012 Everybody!!!

Camelot... 'Tis a silly place

Fun fact: The most accurate depiction of what the Middle Ages looked like was in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Everything was filthy everywhere and the Pythons were the only film makers to be brave enough to make it that way.

Grail, now out on blu ray, was the first film the comedy group made and many people consider it their best. The 1974 film also marked the first directing effort by both co- directors Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones and was the basis of 2005 Tony Award Winning musical Spamalot. If all that isn't impressive enough consider that Graham Chapman was completely drunk for his portrail of King Arthur, and half the time Gilliam was feeding him his lines.

The plot centers around the renowned King and his search for the knights of the round table and the quest for the Grail. Though, spoiler alert, they never get the Grail they do encounter killer rabbits, horney nuns, a silly French taunter, a knight who doesn't surrender even after losing all his limbs, and even more lunatics. They also go through the until now mysterious way to decide if someone is a witch: since they burn they must be made of wood (no you don't build a bridge out of her to see if she is made of wood because you could also build a bridge from stones.) Since wood floats she must weigh the same as something else that floats, concluding it is a duck.

If you have never seen the film, you should, now!! Don't even finish reading this- go now. If you did see but haven't bought one of the several special edition dvds that exist buy the blu ray. But apparently the special features are the same as the last few dvd packages so I won't be buying it, I will probably be watching it again soon.

Thoughts on Breaking Dawn

I know you all cannot wait to hear what I have to say about Breaking Dawn Part One after my last Twilight review. I feel as though I am a truth teller when it comes to this franchise- cutting through the fluff and hype and keeping them honest. The Anderson Cooper of teen lit. if you will.

So the most recent installment center around the marriage of undead Edward (Rob Pattonson) and the freaky mortal girl Bella (played ironically by the pulseless Kristin Stewart) who can't understand the importance of dating a living human. Still the heart wants what it wants so the pair marry and as soon as their honeymoon is over, Eddie-baby will turn her.

Willing to die for the man she loves, yes, but not willing to die a virgin- I can respect that. And as a good Christian girl as I assume Bella is as well (except for the whole no murdering thing and the fact that vampires go against everything Jesus preached) I applaud waiting until marriage view point. Important lesson to teach young girls so I will even spare you my rant about murdering you wife not being a message to send to young people because what the viewer/reader is supposed to take out of it is the promise of eternal love and devotion. My issue with this particular piece of the saga comes from what happens after the "I dos."

No, not the fact that there is no sex scene, only 20 minutes of lead up (teases!) After their sole encounter Bella is preggers, which she explains she didn't know could happen. Can't get pregnant the first time? Sounds like an afternoon special to me. Clearly they are advocating less than safe sex. And I get that the Mormon author would argue that it is okay because of the advocating to wait for marriage but teenagers are smart enough to realize that Bella and Edward might have waited but Rob and Kristin aren't. Why would you chance no playing safe when Human men can give you a disease but you don't even know what can come shooting out of a vampire. Ick.

So baby is on the way and Edward and most of his family want to kill it because they don't know what is to come out but Bella refuses. This is clearly an allegory for abortion. I'm not actually in favor of aborting a baby because it is not perfect but let's not pretend this isn't a pro-life argument. Even when it becomes clear that Bella will die if she goes through with it, she stands strong that baby lives. The baby above all else- sounds exactly like the extreme right wing view point on abortion and I, for one don't think that that should always be the case. It isn't black and white and hammering into the minds of young girls is not okay because most eighteen year old girls don't have the last minute turn to vampirecy option.

Anyway, that is the end of Breaking Dawn until next fall's part two and I don't know the whole story so i can't be sure what i will be sounding off about then but i feel like wearwolf Jacob's being a pedophile could be a big part.

Happy Birthday to Dr Suess

Sure you hated children but you wrote for them anyway, even if it was only because your adult writing wouldn't sell. Still, for generations children around the world love you and for that you are celebrated.
