Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are divorcing

I think this should belong under news that should surprise nobody that the couple is ending their 7 year relationship. People are calling it a "shocking split" but I remember everyone how everyone was questioning if it wasn't fake when he proposed after two months and then they announced Suri's arrival about ten minutes later. The only shocking thing is how long it took.

Cruise is crazy. I should say, since I don't know him, that he comes off as crazy. There is the alien religion, the public disdain for psychologists and related medicine (I will tolerate people's beliefs if they tolerate other people's as well) and the couch jumping. But beyond that he seems overbearing. Both of his last two wives abandoned careers to raise babies and Nicole Kidman has admitted that wasn't her idea. He also had to have his own sonogram machine and there are reports of how sheltered his keeps Katie and their daughter.

I personally think it was all a publicity stunt to begin with on his part. Maybe she was in on it and maybe she wasn't. She did admit during her Dawson Creek days she wanted to marry him growing up so that explains her being in the relationship either way. Plus she had just broken up with Chris Pine. Then she was a girl in trouble (maybe it was even Pine's baby- who knows.) Tom being decent proposed and how long it remained a charade is unclear. Maybe at some point he did fall for her, perhaps not. Either way, Katie is done. Maybe she found out and is furious. Maybe her contract is up. Maybe she just doesn't love him anymore.

Whatever the reason, it is over. Another celebrity marriage falls, cue the tabloids.
