Andy Skib's newest endevor
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2013Andy Skib Music
Everyone knows how simply proud I am of my younger brother Andy. This year, he and his amazing
wife, Jennie, packed up their house and dog and moved to Nashville, TN for Andy to start a new
adventure, his solo music career.
In the past month, I've not only seen him grow up more than he has ever done, I've seen him change
and become this amazing human, husband and musician we have always known he could and
would be. With the support of his friends and family, he has been able to start establishing
himself in this wonderful new city.
With a new tour on the horizons, a new website and new songs, which I am sure he will share with the
world as soon as he finds them as perfect as they can be, he has sure made a remarkable entrance to
this new adventure. I only ask you for you to support and "Like" his new Facebook page to help him
out on this new journey!
You yourself can invite Andy to play in your hometown! To learn how, check out his website!
Thank you!

Tiny Rockstars: they grow up so fast don't they?

Though, for fans it maybe hard to believe, that was three years ago when Cook's career was just beginning and now Hayden has grown into a full-fledged mini-Rockstar!!!

Well if it isn't my second favorite Austrailian...
Anyway so, after a long absence or at least a long time since I saw or heard anything from Johns, someone on Twitter led me to this video.
Call me old school, or weird, but I really love this song. Hope you do too.

Music Monday: Dallin Brings me back to black
One of my favorite songs of the night was BLUE DRESS,
However the highlight of the night had to be her tribute to the late, Amy Winehouse.
After the show I even managed to get a quick treat at The Meatball Shop, all and all a good night.

Celebrating THIS LOUD MORINING
morning with first access going to guests (just $400 per night, a steal!) followed by first come first serve until they hit capacity. Knowing the way Cook fans are, I planned on door number two. The nighttime Best Buy concert access would
be given to the first 200 people to buy TLM starting at midnight.
The plan was leave work last night, eat dinner, then head over to the store to line up for a few hours, then go home and sleep late. I didn't end up doing it, which was a good thing because over 200 people had already shown up by Sunday night. I would have been heart broken and ticketless. Now obviously, I wouldn't give up on seeing DC but I didn't need to buy anything because late last week (by the grace of God, with an assist by Mom) I was awarded two VIP tickets to this morning's show. This meant getting to the hotel at 7:30 am (boo) and eating complimentary breakfast in the paramount "library" cafe WHILE watching David & the Anthemic's Today Show performance. After that, came the concert, videoed below and shot a few feet to my right.
If that wasn't enough, we were even brought back stage to see the guys. After the obligatory congratulations we spent most of the time telling the band about Gigi and how, at less than two years old, she has become a big fan. It was a wonderful and odd experience to think that the last time I had spoken to any of them, Monty in September '09, Gigi didn't even know us yet!

Lion of Ido Invades the Mercury Lounge

I had been wanting to see LION OF IDO again, for a long while- probably since I’d had purchased tickets to see them open for EVE 6 in November but ended up with the late show and Ido and Co. only opened the early one. About a month ago, after the group had spread their music, not only around the country but even Europe on their first foreign tour, a hometown show was finally announced.
Thursday Night was that show and nothing could keep Lauren or I from going, especially after the personal invite from Ido himself. The same could not be said, unfortunately, for any of our collective cameras, as I decided I didn’t feel like lugging my huge Pro-Style camera around my neck and Lauren brought hers without thinking to check the battery. Luckily, our boss was nice enough to let us borrow hers and basically saved the day!

Making the need for a camera even more pressing, Dallin Applebaum (of Ryan Star's band and solo projects) made a surprise appearance during DAY BY DAY.

Tune in Tuesday: If you only buy two Albums this week
The first is good music for a good cause, that I heard about while reading a great Design and NYC blog, Fifth Floor Up. Here's the info from FFU
The other is a Covers album from Green River Ordinance featuring 5 great songs."Getty Storm is a one year old little girl--the daughter of a friend of a Damnwells fan and follower of my friend Morgan's blog. I first heard about Getty in passing--something about a "button" on a blog or something ("what's that?")--and now, just a couple months later, Getty and her friends and family have become MY friends and family, and I care about them so crazy much that I have decided to to everything humanly possible to help little Getty. Who knows--I might even run a marathon in December!
You see, Miss Getty, or "Getty Owl," as she is known, has SMA Type 1. That's Spinal Muscular Atrophy--basically the most awful thing you could ever imagine--and Type 1 is its most aggressive form. SMA is a terminal disease. It's genetic. And it affects 1 in every 6,000 children born worldwide. When you do the math (and I'm not good at math, so thank you Sophia's Cure for doing it for me), that's one child born with SMA EVERY 7 HOURS. And those children are considered lucky if they make it to their second birthday."
The Album is called "Songs From Before We Were Born" and can be Downloaded Here

Brooklyn meets New Jersey epicness!!!
Message from Ryan at http://www.rstar.net/ where you can find all of the dates.
Life is Full circle - Bon Jovi dates.
Attached is a picture of me and my band, Stage,
years ago with Bon Jovi. For me, it was truly day one that this journey began.
It was the moment I realized that this path for me was real and that music would
be my life. It was the night we opened for them at Jones Beach in NY by winning
a radio contest going into our senior year of high school. Years later, in the
most romantic and poetic fashion, the world and Jon have given me this
incredible opportunity once again to get in front of the greatest and biggest
audiences in the world. This news is so elating, I had to rush this email out to
all of you who have been on this ride with me.
Here are some of the
dates dates the band and I will be rockin':
March 17 San Antonio, TX @
AT&T Center
March 19 Las Vegas, NV @ MGM Grand Garden Arena (that's
right, baby! Like Tyson, Holyfield and RSTAR)
March 22 Salt Lake City, UT @
Energy Solutions Arena
That is all I can announce now, but don't worry,
there will be more touring coming up.
Thank you all for your continued
support and love. See you on the road.
R
Ryan, I am so happy for you. If anyone has a chance to go see the shows, do it and in the meantime, here's a taste of Ryan.

Live at Crow Creek Tavern
This video was taken on December 16, 2010 and the guitarist/ wolf man to his right is none other than Cook’s friend and guitarist Neal Tiemann. The song ended their set at the Crow Creek Tavern in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The show kicked off three days that I wished Tulsa was drivable from NYC where To Have Heroes and Phil Marshal each did two full band shows. Unfortunately I was unable to attend but luckily there are youtube videos and, even better, Nick Gibson has now released the entire Crow Creek show for the low price of ten dollars!
